Behind Their
Closed Doors
Seven strangers. One carriage. Ten new songs!
A Word Before We Depart
There is a lot being said in this little musical. When Anna first showed me the script and shared Analise’s music I could see the vision. The morning commute, strangers stranded in their own little world, yearning for connection and joyfully, in this day, receiving it. A show that holds the difficult parts of life to the same standard – the grief of a new breakup, losing something you thought was solid, losing yourself – and lets us know that they are hard things we don’t have to carry alone.
Maybe not to strangers on a train, but opening up to others can help us find, through that connection, the truth that all of us are struggling with something, and that there is no judgement offered when pain is shared. Sometimes what makes a good day is a stranger being kind and you opening up just a little because of that. It has been extremely fun to work with these humans to bring Behind Their Closed Doors to life. New work is always the most exciting as you build it together and show the world something it hasn’t seen before. We hope you like the new vision. We sure do.
Musical Stations on Our Way
Everyone on Board
Anna (she/her) is a children’s picture book author. Her titles include Our River Playground, co-authored with a Gomeroi elder, Uncle Carl, The Spotty Sock Mystery, shortlisted for Speech Pathology Australia’s 2023 Book of the Year (3–5 years category), and a collection of verse for children, Peppermint and Popcorn Days. She enjoys bringing the whimsical characters in this poetry collection to life in story time sessions for preschoolers and poetry writing workshops for school-age children. Anna is also a regular performer in Sydney’s theatre scene and writes for the stage. Behind Their Closed Doors is the exciting culmination of her collaboration with Analise Wren, bringing storytelling to life with music.
Musical Director
Analise (she/her) is a singer, pianist, composer and performer. She released her debut EP We Don’t Need The Sun in April 2025 and frequents open mic nights and gigs in bars around Sydney. Writing music from lived experience, she draws inspiration from artists such as Sara Bareilles, Missy Higgins and Adele. Analise is also active in the musical theatre world, with acting credits including Joy in Cinderella and Jo March in Little Women (BeaMS) and roles across production management, stage crew and costume design for other productions. Analise is a strong believer in the power of the creative arts for sharing stories that deserve a voice. She already has ideas brewing for another album, so keep your eyes peeled!
Tracey (she/her) has been making theatre since her early teens with musical societies – performing, directing, producing, designing sound and sets and giving her all to the creation of something that doesn’t last long physically but hopefully lingers forever. Recently she directed The Dining Room, Silent Sky and Glorious for Theatre on Chester, but a favourite was the new work Two Ladies and an Emu. It gave her a taste for creating something that had never existed before, and she is thrilled to be doing it again, returning to her roots in musicals.
With 19 years of dance experience, Mia (she/her) has a deep love for movement, storytelling and the way the body can communicate. She has choreographed and assisted on several productions, including Pirates of Penzance and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Beacon Musical Society, Fiddler on the Roof with BeaMS, and Frozen with PACA. Alongside performing, Mia works as a dance teacher and choreographer, teaching both adults and children across a range of styles. She loves helping others find confidence through movement and believes choreography is one of theatre’s most powerful ways to express, connect and share stories.
Wayne (he/him) has been involved as a volunteer with community theatre for over 20 years. In his role as lighting director he has done many musicals and plays, using his knowledge and experience gained from being in the television industry for 47 years. Andrew (he/him) has spent over two decades in live production, working through Red Globe Productions for community theatre, corporate and church clients, and through Lux Imperium on theatrical venue technology systems. Recent credits include musical director for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Oklahoma!, and technical supervisor for Mary Poppins and audio designer for Little Women (Beacon Musical Society). This isn’t his first original work, but he is delighted to help Anna and Analise bring this one to life.

Lizzie also holds national- and state level wins in Jazz and Latin dance, and multiple Sydney Eisteddfod awards in classical song and theatre. She brings a dynamic blend of precision, musicality and expressive storytelling to the stage in her Sydney Fringe debut.
Aleks (she/her) has been drawn to theatre and storytelling from 6 years of age, producing, directing and starring in an Aleksandra Ford Productions of Cinderella. She then cut her teeth in musicals with Ryde Musical Society as an ensemble member. Majoring in Theatre/Media at Charles Sturt University, Aleks continued to create and produce theatre and events across Regional NSW delivering musicals under the Arts Out West outreach program for Theatre for Young People. In the UK, she worked with Salford Arts Theatre to stage manage and produce independent theatre and new works. After a brief hiatus from theatre production to produce a small human, Aleks has been seen most recently in Glenbrook Players' Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike. She is delighted to bring a method acting approach to the role of Mother in Behind Their Closed Doors.

In musical theatre, he has played the dame, Winnie Widebottom in Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood (Dural Musical Society) as well as Mr Sowerberry in Oliver (Dural Musical Society). Whilst Steve once played Fagin in Oliver in a UK production, many moons ago, he nonetheless describes himself as a “single threat”, who is relishing the opportunity to play an older parent with dementia and a big heart. Steve hopes that you will enjoy this “feel good” production as much as he has enjoyed being a part of it.
Hannah is thrilled to be making her first appearance at the Sydney Fringe Festival with Behind Their Closed Doors. Hannah performs regularly with her local theatre company, Beacon Musical Society. Recently she has appeared as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator), the Magic mirror in Sleeping Beauty the Pantomime and as a featured dancer and soloist in Mary Poppins. Trading in her tap shoes for a pair of crutches post knee surgery, Hannah is excited to bring her personal experience to this role and share her abilities as a Person Living With Illness.
Abby (she/her) is a guitarist and singer who reinvents covers in her own unique style, performing regularly at open mic and gig nights around Sydney and further afield. Influenced by folk, rock, pop and world music artists from the 60’s onwards including Paul Simon, Bob Seger, The Motels, The Waifs, Sting, Pink Floyd, to name just a few. Currently being strongly influenced by Analise Wren and her music to play guitar in this staged theatre production of Behind Their Closed Doors for the Sydney Fringe Festival, a first time venture into a different performance space and style that she is finding to be both challenging and exciting.
